LIVING FROM THE MYSTICAL HEART

The Sufi teacher Hazrat Inayat Khan spoke of the awakening of humanity to our divine inheritance. The Christian mystic Teillhard de Chardin saw the need of people to envision themselves as spiritual beings on a human journey. He advocates an emerging consciousness that asks us to be co-creators with God rather than passive instruments.

The Dalai Lama fosters a spiritual revolution including both the religious and the secular, that cares for development of positive qualities inherent in all people. Mother Theresa showed us the vast power of love in her response to suffering. Central to all these teachers is the mystical heart. It lifts us beyond being lost in our personal dramas, while manifesting the divine within us. Living from the mystical heart contributes to the wellbeing of the world and ourselves.

The following aspects of the heart will be explored with spiritual practices, creative exercises, and teachings from various traditions.

The deep heart is centered in a peace that is the greatest power. Devoid of grasping, clinging, fear and resistance, there is a natural spacious freedom. All fragmentation, conflict and chaos surrender into the depth of oneness.

The living heart is the spiritual sun within us that radiates life giving energy, which renews, revivifies and regenerates. Healing pours forth from this source of life.

The sacred heart contains the living temple of the divine. Within its womb the seeds of divinity within the soul are nurtured and birthed into the world.

The compassionate heart transcends the boundaries of rigid ego-identification while embracing the unity in all human suffering. God responds to the cries of humanity when the compassionate heart awakes in us.

The mystical heart of transformation is capable of turning leadened consciousness into illumination, psychological death into resurrection, and stagnation into exalted inspiration.

The heart of mystery knows the living meaning of reality beneath the veils of concepts, dogmas and systems. The heart is the way of wisdom and mystical knowing.

The ecstatic heart dances in the presence of the many manifestations of the divine Beloved. Absorbed in mystical union, the ecstatic heart is the holy fire of love.
